We are very excited to announce a beautiful coordinating line of sheers for our Anniversary™  Collection, which we will introduce at the Hospitality Design Boutique in Miami September 14th -15th. These sheers are made with 100% Recycled Polyester Eco Batiste and the patterns are printed using an environmentally friendly process called AirDye®. 

We will have sampling ready for you in October. Shortly after that, we will be providing batons for display and hangsets for the outside reps.

There will also be a marketing tie in for the batons and for your wings for the Anniversary Collection wallcoverings so that they are cross-marketed as coordinating elements.

We're calling this collection the next revolution of tie-dye! Based on patterns originally designed by Maya Romanoff in the early days of the company and reimagined by Amy Lau, the Maya Romanoff Anniversary Collection archival tie-dye patterns have been printed on 100% recycled polyester sheer fabric using a proprietary green printing process called AirDye®. 

AirDye® is an environmentally sustainable process of dyeing and printing fabrics without using water. This heat transfer process uses 95% less water and up to 86% less energy than traditional textile production.  Available in three patterns: Snowflake, Half Plaid, and Crystal in four colors: Paprika Saffron, Indigo Earth, Pearl Taupe, and Warm White. Accessibly priced at $40.00/per yard 65" untrimmed.

Summer greetings from Maya Romanoff...and an important Sample Book Update!

Hope you are all having a good summer so far. We have noticed that overall business seems to be picking up and more projects are being closed. This bodes well for the rest of 2010!

As you may be aware, we are not reprinting Odyssey since we are moving towards a more customizable library with binders and swatch cards as building blocks that enable you to make a book designed specifically to a client's needs. You have two options available to you.

The "Create Your Own Sample Book" program
You have the option to order empty Collection Books and select the swatch cards best for individual clients.  Basically, you are building a book for each client that fits their needs and interests.

OR

The Maya Romanoff Collection Library
You may follow the below format, which will consist of three books making up a complete sample library:

Hi all,
 
Hope you are having a good summer thus far. I need to alert you to something new for your Maya Romanoff wing display.
We have created beautiful branded banners for your wings that will be shipping out to you in the next week or so.
 
The banner size is 29" wide x 6" high. There are (3) 6" pieces of foam tape on two edges and in the middle.The banner will fit on the inside of the metal wing border. I have also attached an updated Wing Rotation for your reference.
 
Attached you will find photos of the new banners and how they should be displayed. The banners come with self-adhesive strips for an easy installation.
Please install them on both sides of every wing. If you have any questions, let us know.

Dear Showrooms & Distributors,
 
Just off a long holiday weekend here and we are now back to our regular summer hours (Mon-Thurs. 8:15am-5:45pm, Fridays 8:15am-1:15pm). Hope you are all having a good summer!
 
I wanted to make you aware of some recent changes in our staff.
 
Maria Ramos is no longer an employee of Maya Romanoff. Maria's emails are being forwarded to our CS team. For the time being, please use the general cs@mayaromanoff.com email if you are unsure who is handling your orders. More details on territory assignments will be forthcoming. If the matter is urgent, feel free to contact Michael Gutwaks directly at michael@mayaromanoff.com.
 
We are excited to announce that we have hired an excellent Customer Service Manager. Her name is Cynthia Dudek (cynthia@mayaromanoff.com, ext.16) and she comes to us from Gerry Brown & Associates. She has 20 years experience and we are confident that she will help to make our customer service even better.
 
If you have any questions, you may contact myself or Michael Gutwaks. It is our goal to provide the best customer service in the industry.   3. Maya Romanoff Mirror Collection This line has been fully launched in Florida and Las Vegas. The schedule of rollout to remaining showrooms is pending. All showrooms should receive tear sheets in the coming month. All showrooms should have electronic versions of the tear sheets in the meantime. 4. WING ROTATION -Q1 Wing Updates  By now, all showrooms should have received the following wing materials.The only delay has been the Anniversary collection, which has now shipped. If you are missing any of the below items, please contact us.

We have some exciting news to share about a member of our Customer Service team. Heidi Sukinik has been promoted to Product Development Manager and will be working in New Products beginning Monday, May 3rd. Heidi has a very strong background in product development and design prior to her work with us. Heidi is taking over for Tammy Konieczko, who has moved on to pursue another opportunity.
 
Paul Rendleman is moving from Supply Chain management to replace Heidi and will take over all of her accounts. Paul worked in customer service for years in the contract furniture business. He has a keen sense of supply chain and import/export and will be an excellent partner to you in your efforts. Best of all, Heidi will be available to consult.
 
In order to simplify the transition please try to reference quote and order numbers when emailing for updates and revisions. Please also try to include any email history when possible. This should help Paul locate the project / order in our system.

2. Or as a substitute for Extraordinary Surfaces, which will not be reprinted.
3. Or use it as the primary book in a client's sample library, giving you the ability to customize it to an individual client's needs.

**We do prefer that you keep the Vinyls in a Vinyls book and place in the Vinyls section of Design Libraries.

New Product Update

Flexi™ Mother of Pearl Aphrodite is our new Mother of Pearl product, which has an enhanced flexibility and a thin, sleek aesthetic. It is thinner and more flexible than our standard Mother of Pearl. The edges of each 18" tile are scalloped instead of square, and a monolithic installation is achieved by overlapping tile edges.

Flexi Mother of Pearl is more sleek and less textural than our traditional Mother of Pearl. We will continue to offer our standard Mother of Pearl Aphrodite™ for clients that prefer a more textural look as well as an architectural effect with a tile installation.

Flexi™style Mother of Pearl tiles are available in our other patterns as custom. We are currently evaluating the viability of shifting our Mother of Pearl Collection to the Flexi-style. We welcome input from you.
Samples and Wings are coming in February. Boards will follow also in February.

The new book was made with all of you in mind. We know that you have multiple lines to represent and we wanted you to have a tool at your disposal that has all the colorways and collections at your fingertips. You will find that this is a catalog that you can show to clients and use as a sales tool.

 Hi all,

The new excel version of the 2010 Price Book is now available. Please request a copy from our CS rep. You will receive hard copies in January, which will have full product descriptions, shipping charts etc...

This new book is the result of careful evaluation of our entire line. We have avoided raising prices wherever possible. The effective date for these changes is January 4th, 2010.

There will be a 30-day grace period as always on existing quotations.

·The following new products are included in the 2010 Price Book: Anniversary Collection, Grooves, Hemp, Seamless Aphrodite and Meditations.
·We are lowering the price for the Stitched Horizontal, Stitched Puzzle, and Stitched Contrast Vertical collections.

·You will notice slight increases in the following collections: Precious Metals, Weathered Metals, Weathered Walls, Wallmica, Jewel as well as our hand painted Vinyls.

·There are a few skus being discontinued and that list is attached also. We avoided any major impact to the Wing Rotation.

·In an effort to help augment sales, we have lowered the minimum order quantities and increments on several products.

The following collections have reduced increments: Ajiro, Beadazzled Bauble, Blanket, Abacadazzle, All FV Vinyls, Wallmica, True Metals, Jewel Collection, Reed.

Please see the new forms in the documents section of the Distributor Intranet. These are the new Book Registration form and Sample Book Update form respectively.
 
Just to refresh all of us, any sample book you place should be registered with us. The Registration form should be found inside the sample book and can be filled out and faxed in or you may also submit registrations online on the Distributor website.
 
The Sample Book Update form enables you to quickly indicate what swatch cards are needed for a particular client.

The new Maya Romanoff Collections binder has just arrived. We want to make sure that everyone who has sales trips scheduled for January has some of these books on hand so would you please let me know if you have a trip scheduled for January asap?

6. NEW FOR 2010!!
 
After Meditations winning Best of Boutique and both Meditations and David Rockwell for Maya Romanoff Grooves being selected as finalists for the Interior Design Best of Year Awards, you may be wondering how we’ll top that.

Well, just wait until March when we launch our Anniversary Collection of redesigned archival Tie Dye wallcoverings. We expect to garner a great deal of attention for our 40th anniversary including the enclosed story in Interior Design Magazine October issue. You will be receiving preview sampling & specifications of this exciting new collection later this month!

In January we'll launch Seamless Aphrodite™! This product has enhanced flexibility and a thin, sleek aesthetic. The edges of each 18" tile are scalloped instead of square, and a monolithic installation is achieved by overlapping tile edges.

The product will be offered in the same 6 colors as our standard Mother of Pearl Aphrodite™, which we will continue to offer. 

Also coming in  the first quarter will be the Hemp collection, another very green and beautiful hand-crafted product.

The package includes a specifications sheet, press release and copy of the Interior Design article.

To reiterate, the launch for this collection is March 2010. It will be available to order then and boards will be sent to you before March.

Just this week, we discovered that Interior Design featured the collection as a new product on their website.

We understand that some people have been having problems ordering samples online using our website.
If you have any technical difficulties, there is a button on the sample ordering page "Experiencing Technical Difficulties?"that outlines how to troubleshoot these issues.
 
Currently, we are redesigning our website and it is due to be completed and rolled out in the first quarter of 2010.

Presentation Boards 

It's come to my attention that despite my numerous attempts to keep everyone abreast of the new Presentation boards, there may still be some confusion out there.
  
Here is what you should have received and what it's intended use is:
 
EACH ROAD REP SHOULD HAVE:
 
12 large boards of best sellers(see attached list & photo!)
 
EACH SHOWROOM SHOULD HAVE:
 
A set of  26 small double-sided product boards (see attached list & photo!) that represent the entire line.
These are to be kept in the showroom library for general reference, use and lending out to clients.
 
If you have any questions about this, please let me know. And if you have any suggestions about how we can better communicate, I'd like to hear those also.

The Small Board Kit (16" x 13") consists of 25 two-sided boards with large product swatches on each side as well as a canvas portfolio case. The Small Board Kits are due late Fall.
 
Outside Sales Reps will receive a Large Road Kit (19.75" x 24"), which consists of 12 presentation boards that have one large swatch of product with small swatches of every colorway along with an installation photo and product specs right on the back. We ask that you use your existing canvas cases for these boards. Shipping to you this week!

Some Showrooms have received Ajiro Sunburst Wing material to be embellished with CRYSTALLIZED™ - Swarovski Elements. Please let me know when you have these wings installed.

Others will receive sampling only in the interim, which consists of baggies of loose crystals & pearls and postcards as well as wood veneer sampling.

Here is some basic information for selling these embellishments. More information will be posted on our website soon as well.

·         We will be selling the Crystallized™ - Swarovski Elements at $125 per 50 pack with a tube of glue.

      This is enough for one 9-yard roll. (no matter what Sunburst repeat size)

·         We require purchase of a wallcovering with the crystal.  

·         Clients can buy these for use with any of our wallcovering, but we recommend testing first.

 

Sampling

·      We will not affix crystal/pearl to Sunburst memos and keep on hand as samples. To emphasize the post-install embellishment concept, we will sample them loose in a baggie.

New Road Kits shipping to you 6/30! (Update) 

A few more things I need to clarify with you regarding your new and old Road Kits. Of course if they are damaged, please do throw them away. When you receive your new boards, you will need to place them in your existing black canvas bag and remove the old ones. If you need a replacement bag because your case is damaged, let us know.
 
There are a few options of what to do with the old boards.
 
1. Keep them on hand in the showroom for additional use.
2. Use for presentations and place with worthy clients or projects.
3. Donate to a local Design College. If you need assistance with this or a freight account, let me know. We always want to support the up and coming young designers.
4. As a last resort, they may be shipped back to us. Please let me know if you are doing so.

New Road Kits shipping to you 6/30!

In late June, all reps and showrooms will receive new product launch boards for the products introduced at HD Expo  which includes Beadazzled Leaf Rain, new Blanket Yarn & Stitch and Zig Zag, and Ajiro Sunburst. Accompanying the Sunburst board, you will receive a packet of CRYSTALLIZED™ - Swarovski Elements of clear crystals and crystal pearls. Please use these for sales presentations to suggest as embellishments.*
 
We are also ready to roll out our new Road Kits! Every road rep will receive a set of 12 large boards of best sellers. These will come in a canvas portfolio and will be shipped to you the end of June.
 
In addition, each showroom will receive a set of  26 small  double-sided product boards that represent the entire line. These are to be kept in the showroom library for general reference, use and lending out to clients. Order replenishments as needed through the Distributor Intranet. Please use your discretion in giving them away as they are very costly to produce. These will be shipped to showrooms in July.

Maya Romanoff Studio Vinyl Launch

Fidelity Vinyl is launching a new line of licensed vinyls called Maya Romanoff Studio at HD Expo in Las Vegas. Fidelity’s distribution model relies upon distributors who generally sell solely vinyl and paint at a lower price point. Initially, these products will be targeted (but not limited to) the hospitality segment of select service, focused service and full service three-star hotels. There is minimal cross-over in this segment by the majority of our international distributors.

Hi all,

Just wanted to pass along a few reminders as well as changes to policies & procedures to all staff about processes and policies related to orders. Issues arise from time to time and this email is just to confirm your awareness of these issues and what the correct protocol is. If you have any questions, please let me know.

1. Specifying vs. Purchasing Territories

As you are all aware, we switched to 100% specifier last year. In some cases this will benefit your territory and in others not.

We have had some complaints from purchasers that when they try to purchase in a given territory, that they have been refused help and told to contact the specifying territory.

As a reminder, we expect reciprocity from all of you in these instances. We know you would not want your customer placing an order turned away from another purchasing territory and we ask that you act accordingly.

2. Resale Numbers

Please make sure and get resale numbers from all new customers before placing orders. We rely on you to vet all potential customers. It is a liability to all of us to sell to unlicensed Designers or Contractors.

3. Quotes

Please always include the project name, project type and specifier when requesting a quote or placing an order. We also recommend registering your projects- especially international- as it is not uncommon to have multiple quote requests for large contract projects in particular.

4. Contract Purchase Orders

Maya Romanoff requires that all showroom orders are submitted accurately and reflect the PO from the customer. We rely on our Showrooms to input the order correctly and not doing so, can lead to errors that can be very costly for both the Showroom and Maya Romanoff. Please review contract POs carefully.

5. Phone System

Please note that we recently made an adjustment to our phone system and you must dial 9 before dialing any extension. The new outgoing message reflects this change, but we want to point this out as I know people do not always listen to an outgoing message when they are calling in often. Just dial 9, wait a moment and then dial the person's extension.

6. Territory Breakdown

We decided it would be most efficient to have our customer support reps handle all orders for a given territory. This ensures everything is followed from start to finish and you get to go to one person for everything. Please take note of the territory assignments below.

8. Copies of Checks for Payment

As you know, we will ship an order based on receipt of a copy of a company check on your letterhead. This copy assures us that you have the check in hand and are therefore guaranteeing payment. Please do not fax us a check copy (transferred to your letterhead) unless you are in actual possession of the check.

9. Shipment of Samples

As a cost saving measure, please refrain from requesting RUSH shipping on samples unless absolutely necessary. Going forward, all shipments will be sent via UPS Ground.

Alternately, you may ask your customer for their UPS or FedEx account number for expedited service.

MAYA ROMANOFF CELEBRATES 40 YEARS OF DESIGN AT THE 2009 KIPS BAY SHOW HOUSE

The Maya Romanoff Corporation, established in 1969, kicks off their 40th anniversary celebration with the 2009 Kips Bay Designer Show House.  The installation, named “Stairway to Spring,” garnered its inspiration from nature. One of New York’s distinguished interior designers, Amy Lau of her namesake firm, designed the spring floral theme installation with acclaimed paper artist, Jo Lynn Alcorn.  

“It’s been a really long winter and I wanted to celebrate Spring in all its wonder and we created a lush installation of three-dimensional magnolia branches and flowers in a range of textures, patterns and soft rose colors sweeping up the staircase,” says Designer Amy Lau.

The Kips Bay installation showcases the experimental and artistic spirit that defines the Maya Romanoff Corporation. The company is known for transforming modern design by combining ancient artistic techniques with the latest in production technology, while maintaining an unwavering regard for the environment.  The Maya Romanoff Corporation was the first to experiment with glass with the introduction of the Beadazzled™-the flexible glass beaded wall covering that earned a permanent place in the Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum.  The company is working on new collections for 2009 including a special collaboration with Amy Lau. 

“On the eve of our 40th anniversary, we are proud to celebrate the vision and dreams of talented designers and artists,” says Joyce Romanoff, President of Maya Romanoff Corporation. “Over the years, we’ve helped clients create beautiful environments with wallcoverings and materials, using classic solutions and a forward-thinking approach.  The secret of our success is in our continued pursuit of excellence, our meticulous view of the design landscape and an essential love for materials.”

For the Kips Bay project, Maya Romanoff papers will be used in a three-dimensional presentation highlighting cut flowers that transform the staircase from the second to the third floor.  Featured products include:  Wall Mica™ (background), Remember Paris™ (magnolia buds and flowers), Weathered Walls™ (branches), and custom hand-painted Grecian Crystal™ (leaves).

I'm sending out an open call for registrations. We are in process of doing a reconciliation of our book inventory and shipments with the registrations we have received thus far. From what I can see thus far, we are missing many registrations. As we go through and analyze where books have been sent, I will be contacting you to check on missing regsitrations.
 
We have begun the exciting initiative of creating a database of Book Registrations and we need your help to make this work. In the future, we are looking to send you all a list of the clients that have books in your territory so updates are a breeze!

1.  Product Updates

Ajiro Sunburst (Now Available to order!!) The much anticipated and award-winning Sunburst is ready for its debut. The much anticipated and award-winning Sunburst is ready for its debut. Extensive testing has resulted in specialized instructions to relax the product and make it install flush to the wall. These instructions are attached to this email for your reference and will be posted online. Wings will be sent after the HD Show in the Q2 round of Wing Updates. Samples of the Natural are available now and samples of the full line of colorways will be sent in May.

Ajiro Metallics (Now Available to order!!) If ground/raw material is available, production lead time is 3-4 weeks from receipt of order and payment in full. Otherwise,the lead time is 8-10 weeks.

Rockwell for Romanoff Puzzle (Now Available to order!!) Ads have begun appearing for Puzzle in such publications as Interior Design and HD. Samples have been sent to most showrooms and a complete distribution of samples to everyone is well underway. Expect to have them in the next week if you have not already received them.

Rockwell for Romanoff Blanket (Available to order in May!!) The newly re-engineered and even more beautiful Blanket will be launched at the HD expo in May. Samples will be distributed to all showrooms before the HD Show. Wings will be sent after the HD Show in the Q2 round of Wing Updates. 

Beadazzled Bijou new metallic colorways on hold. This includes Metallic Taupe, Gunmetal and Mahogany and applies ONLY to the Bijou pattern. 

2. Wing Rotation Updates

All Q1 wing updates have shipped as of last week. The new rotation, which also addressed items discontinued in 2008, will require 2 new boards (4 sides). Please make sure when you update your Wings, that you pull down the discontinued items as requested in the new Rotation. And also, please install the new Vinyl Postcard holders along with the new postcards that were shipped with your Price Books last month.

 Planned Q2 Wing Updates will be sent in June and will include the below products. You will need 3 new boards (6 sides). This will help you understand what goes in each book and what, if anything should be pulled from older sample books. Dear US Showroom Managers & Sample Department Staff,

I am sure by now you are well aware that the size of Beadazzled Bauble tiles has changed to 18" x 18" (formerly 14" x 14").
This information was sent to you with our 2009 Price Book in a few emails.

Our hope is that this will make things simpler for everyone as all of our Glass beaded tiles are now 18"x 18". Easier to remember! In fact, all square tiles, with the exception of True Metals are 18" x 18" (including Mother of Pearl, Chevron, & Aphrodite).

I wanted to make sure that you have addressed the Bauble change in your display and sample library.

We would most appreciate you reviewing the below list and making sure you have addressed these items.

1. The most recent WING ROTATION directed you to remove all 14" x 14" Bauble wings. A recent update was sent to all of you with the new metallic Bauble colors in 18"x18" size so you will have Bauble displayed going forward.

2. If you have existing samples that need new MEMO LABELS, we have them available now. Please email joanne@mayaromanoff.com with how many you need.

3. Please also make sure and discard any POSTCARDS with the old specifications. New postcards have already shipped to you.

A few other important things to mention:

1. You should have received your hard copies of the 2009 PRICE BOOK by now. If you need additional copies, let us know.

2. Along with your 2009 Price Book and new postcards, you should have received new clear acrylic POSTCARD HOLDERS for use on your wings. Please refer to the Wing Rotation Manual for instructions.
